The Marion Public Health Department will be acting on grass weed complaints this summer. If you are a property owners or resident you must maintain your property in accordance to city code.
Marion city codified ordinance Chapter 678 prohibits grass or weed growth in excess of 12 inches. If the Health Department determines your lawn to be over 12 inches in length they will put a notice on your property.
If it is a vacant property and the owner cannot be contacted, a notice must be placed in the newspaper and then Marion Public Health can have the property mowed and costs involved placed on the tax duplicate as an assessment.
Any owner of a foreclosed property is still responsible for the property until the deed is no longer in his or her name.
